The 5th Panzer Division, formed in November 1938, is the second batch of Panzer Divisions of the German Wehrmacht and is an old elite force. The battle emblem of the 31st Panzer Regiment is a very distinctive symbol: a red demon with red face and fangs on a black background.
The 5th Panzer Division had been on the Eastern Front since the invasion of the Soviet Union, Operation Barbarossa, started in 1941, and had fought a series of bloody battles in Zhelev, Kursk and Belarus.
Finally, the 5th Panzer Division reached East Prussia in October 1944 and fought the Soviets until the very end of the war reaching the headquarters of the Third Reich. At the end of the war, which saw the general collapse of the German army, the 5th Panzer Division was one of the few troops that fight to the end, like a stubborn and struggling red devil.

第5装甲师组建于1938年11月，是德国国防军第二批次成立的装甲师，也是一支老牌精锐部队。其下属第31装甲团的战徽是个非常具有特色的标志：黑色背景板上，一支赤面獠牙的红色恶魔。
第5装甲师自1941年入侵苏联的“巴巴罗萨”行动开始，该师就驰骋于东线，并历经热勒夫、库尔斯克和白俄罗斯等一系列血战。
最终第5装甲师在1944年10月抵达了东普鲁士，并在这个第三帝国军事发源地大本营，与苏联人一直鏖战到战争结束。在战争后期，在德军整体大倾颓大溃败里，第五装甲师是为数不多血战到底的部队，就如同一只倔强和挣扎的红色魔鬼。
